Empire of Zoica
Along with Bos, Zoica was one of the major empires that arose after the Pylon Cataclysm. Comprised of four main plateaus, Zoica has a land area slightly larger than Bos. Ruled by a secretive class of career politicians, Zoican court intrigues have a reputation for being as deadly as they are intricate. Industry and agriculture is diversified across large swathes of lands and specialties, with no single plateau of the Zoican empire really standing out in any one area, but rather all plateaus being equally proficient in most or all areas of farming and industry.
Zoica is comprised of four major plateaus; Stygia, Moros, Charon, and Apate. Stygia and Moros are the two southernmost plateaus, and are the flattest and most temperate of the four. Charon is located northwest of Moros, and is roughly equal parts wide steppes and steep mountains. Apate is the northernmost of the Zoican plateaus, comprised mostly of high plains that gradually give way to arctic tundra at it’s northernmost reaches.
Three years ago, Zoica cut off all diplomatic contacts with the entire world. All diplomats persona non grata , no communiques to other empires. Nothing. Dead silence. Six months later, Zoican airfleets were actively preying on anything that wasn’t flying a Zoican flag. Six months after that, the Zoicans launched a full scale assault against the plateaus to their north, minor principalities in the Western Empires collective. These small principalities were quickly crushed, and the Zoican war machine turned it’s eyes south to Bos. A year of skirmishing between air navies left neither empire with the clear advantage until the Battle of the Caldera Sea. In a stroke of luck, a Bossonian scout flight came upon the bulk of the Zoican air fleet at anchor undergoing replenishment operations. Drogues and supermonitors were scrambled to the area and the battle was a decisive victory for the forces of Bos. With their air navy in shambles, the Zoicans undertook a massive construction program, hoping to rearm themselves before the Bossonians could invade.
